Red Rocks

Difficulty level: Beginner
Area: Island Bay – Park at the Owhiro Quarry carparkWalk the rocky beach at Red Rocks around to the Seal colony – only 2-3 hours return. On a good day get amazing views of the South Island and ferries heading out. The walk is flat, and if the tide is out you can explore the rock pools.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Area:Karori – a 20-minute bus ride from the hotel Explore Wellington’s native wildlife reserve filled with birds, insect’s, and Tuataras. An easy walk for the whole family with several different tracks to suit.

Difficulty level: Beginner
Area:Wellington WaterfrontTake the guided heritage tour or wander on your own accord along the Waterfront between Frank Kitts Park to Te Papa which is made up of 23 quotations of famous writers who all have a connection to Wellington.

Skyline Track

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Area:Karori / Johnsonville – a 35-minute bus ride from the hotel Gorgeous scenes over 14.2km of trails along the top of the peaks and ridges of the Outer Green Belt. With a 5-hour walking time, ensure you have set over half a day aside for this hike. There are no toilets or water available, so make sure you have basic supplies.

Mount Victoria

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Area: Start the walk from the hotel – a 10-minute walk to Courtenay Place Enjoy un-beatable views of Wellington CBD and out to the airport from the top of Mount Victoria.
The full loop is 4.6km from Courtenay Place up to the summit through forestry and then back down via Oriental Bay.

Te Araroa Paekakariki Escarpment Track

Difficulty level: Intermediate
Area: Paekakariki – an hour and a half train ride from Wellington Station Follow the beautiful shoreline of 9.1km from Paekakariki to Pukerua Bay. The track consists of swing bridges, steps and steep tracks.
